Qualification : M.Sc Analytical / Organic Chemistry with relevant experience or PhD chemistry with relevant experience

Experience :

>5 Years experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with a CRO.
Proven experience with HPLC-MS is required. Experience with Waters / Gilson instrumentation would be an advantage.
Proven experience with developing analytical conditions is required.
Proven experience of delivering to challenging deadlines.
Proven experience in leading a team of analysts.
Proven experience in problem solving.

Key Performance Area :

Provide analytical support to the chemists in the lab.
Prepare written reports according to company format.
Experience with presenting work to management.
Work to good laboratory standard in accordance with company practice and COSHH/SHE legislation.
Provide sound scientific input into problem solving discussions.
Be responsible for the analytical group in the development of new analytical methods.
Be responsible for the training and development of co-workers.

Key Competence Area :

Strong knowledge of Organic Chemistry.
A methodical and systematic approach to laboratory work.
An ability to adapt to changing demands whilst operating under pressure to very demanding deadlines.
A meticulous person working accurately and with attention to detail.
Good record-keeping skills.
Ability to communicate in English and discuss results in an effective manner.
Ability to plan and schedule work effectively.
A reliable and cooperative team player.
Must have very good IT skills and knowledge of using MSWord, MS Power-point and MS Excel.
Knowledge of MS Project would be an advantage.
Knowledge of writing macros within Excel would be an advantage.
